When I Grow Up: The Crushing Realization That You Have Achieved NOTHING

by Billy

Have you ever awoken in the middle of the night to find yourself soaked in a cold sweat, your heart racing and your breath almost impossible to catch?  If you did and it was because you ate 3 Hardees’ burgers the previous night, that doesn’t count.  However, if you have ever found yourself in that position and you aren’t completely negligent of your health, ask yourself something.  Ask yourself, “What put me in this place?”

What wakes you up in the middle of the night?  What is causing that crushing feeling in your chest, as if some mischievous cherubs hover over you placing invisible rocks on to your sternum in a game of Who Will Place The Rock That Kills Him?  Is it the mourning of a loved one?  Is it regret over a lost love due to you royally fucking up like you always do?  Just what is it that awakens you from your slumber and reminds you that there truly is no escape from the real world?

For me, it is the eternally crushing realization that even though I have had some moderate success in my life, I have in all actuality achieved nothing.   (more…)

A Quick Guide To Death

by Chris

Capture

As funny as death is, it also has a serious side. Many questions arise when one is faced with the great beyond. Where will I be buried? Will my no-good wife and ingrate children have enough money to squander on shit? Will I die while masturbating? Here are a few responsible steps to consider when preparing for death: (more…)

Game Review: Silent Hill Shattered Memories

by Jeremy

I finally managed to play through Silent Hill: Shattered Memories a while back. Being a huge SH fan over the years, this one really put me off initially. I’m not a fan of Wiimote waggling at all, and it seemed like this new SH was about to take it to all new pants-shitting levels of annoyance. And while I wasn’t entirely wrong with that initial assessment, I’m glad I finally took the time to play through it. Overall it’s probably one of the more unique games you’ll play regardless of all the frustration you may have with it. It’s such a strange game in overall concept that it will probably take a few days of going over it in your head after you’ve beaten it to really rein in the things you saw and did in a way that will make sense. And even then, there’s going to be a hazy cloud of uncertainty sitting around. This is a good thing, BTW. Just in case you were wondering. Well, except the waggling. (more…)

Billy Holiday Speaks of “the Rose”

by Billy

If we can use his songs as a true basis for the kind of man he was, Conway Twitty fucked around a lot. In his various works (gospel excluded) he was either running around on what seemed to be a steady girlfriend/wife, or he was caught and crawling on back to her. Conway Twitty was a man always moving. He was a man never afraid to take chances. He did what he wanted with no regard for anyone else… except for when he got caught and he dragged his sad ass back on his knees bawling for forgiveness.

Many would wonder what motivations Conway had to be a man like this. What insatiable lust for for women, power, and sex caused him to work his way through more than likely ALL of Tennessee’s ladies? It wasn’t lust, nor power, or a sense of great arrogance that pushed him to do these things. As we find out, Conway was a man who did what he did because he was driven by fear.

How do I know this? Because I’ve damned listened to “The Rose.”   (more…)

Emotions and Life Events Cause Mental Breakdowns and Ridiculous Drama: Evidence of Our Past

by Jeremy

I think I’ve almost decided that the various little shit that happens in everyone’s lives has to be the result of some sort of massive comedy program controlled by some higher source. At some points it almost seems a little *too* scripted. A script that is becoming so predictable and trite that it’s not even surprising it’s real life counterparts acting it out anymore, but it must make those higher beings shit themselves with laughter every time. It’s the only explanation I have. Also I’m apparently losing my mind. (more…)

AIM Comic #45 – There’s Only One Way to Stop Aging

by Amanda

Chris and I had this conversation about a year ago exactly.  It is a rare glimpse at his emotional insides, how he cracks a little more each day.  Do you think he’s noticed any age lines or wrinkles yet?  This comic also features a rare glimpse of me looking like I might have realized that I could have just gone TOO FAR.  He didn’t immediately leave to kill himself after all.  And his birthday is in a couple of days now actually.  HE STILL SURVIVES! NEWS UPDATE: Dark News from the Cutting Room

by STAFF

This month, we decided we would try a Theme.  Believe it or not, after ten years of aimlessly writing for this site, we lose motivation or lack inspiration.  So, we have decided to occasionally throw a theme into the mix.  We have been doing that annually for Halloween, but we wanted to try OTHER, non-spooky themes.  And so here we are presenting you with the OMGJ Suicide Watch Month.
